FULL DAY TOUR

To begin our fantastic journey together, we’ll start the Sounion experience by heading to the Acropolis.  Enjoy hiking about Acropolis Hill to explore the Acropolis and its universally recognized symbols that form the greatest architectural and artistic complex bequeathed by Greek Antiquity to the world. This transformed rocky hillside offers the ancient pillars of the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Athena Nike and dating back to the Bronze age, 2200 to 1200 BC. With breathtaking views, the Acropolis served as a home to kings, a citadel, a mythical home of the gods, and a religious center since dinosaurs roamed the earth. It has withstood epic attacks, immense earthquakes, and more for centuries. Designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, the star attraction of the Acropolis is the Parthenon. Completed in the 5th century BC, it is regarded as the masterpiece of the Doric order of architecture.

From there, you will be chauffeured to the iconic Temple of Olympian Zeus, a sanctuary set in the bustling city center. Aptly named after “Olympian Zeus, head of the Olympian gods, it took almost 700 years to complete and boasts the most exemplary Corinthian order architecture.

Next, we will escort you to the Panathenaic Stadium, also known as Kallimarmaro, to explore where the first modern Olympic games took place and the only stadium in the world built entirely of marble. We will continue our journey to Athens Syntagma Square, also known as Constitution Square, to observe the Presidential Guard Change.

Continuing, our next stop will be Lycabettus Hill to experience the incredible views of the city and beyond. Upon our decent, we will then visit the Athenian Trilogy: The National Library of Athens, The University of Athens, and the Academy. The National Library of Athens boasts Pentelic marble, Doric columns, and Renaissance-style twin staircase.

Lastly, we will enjoy a scenic drive along the Athens Riviera, the coastline enroute to Sounion, in the region of Attika and its southernmost tip. Upon arrival, we’ll explore the iconic Temple of Poseidon, the mythical sea god, that was mentioned in Homer’s epic poem, The Odyssey. The 5th century BC temple is perched on the cliffs above Cape Sounion and the ruins are surrounded by the Aegean Sea on three sides. Enjoy the crystal-clear waters, incredible views and charming surroundings.

HALF DAY TOUR

We will begin our journey driving along the coastline of the picturesque and cosmopolitan Athenian Riviera. Once in Sounio, we will visit the Temple of Poseidon that was built by the Athenians in 5th century BC to honor the god of the seas and oceans. From there, we will overlook the magnificent clear blue waters of the Aegean Sea cliff-side. Immerse yourself on a site that combines ancient Greek civilization and the natural beauty Greece in known for.
