The Corinth Canal is an important infrastructure that allows ships to conveniently enter the Aegean Sea from the Adriatic Sea. Carved in the late 19th century, the canal is a narrow 6.4 kilometers (just under 4 miles) long and 25 meters wide (82 Feet). Prior to construction, ships in the Aegean Sea needing to cross to the Adriatic Sea, or anchor in Corinth, had to prolong their journey an extra 185 nautical miles by sailing around the entire Peloponnese Peninsula.

Next, we’ll explore the Αcrocorinth castle that sits on a monolithic rock and oversees the ancient city. Once the citadel of both ancient and medieval Corinth, it boasts the ruins of the Temple of Aphrodite, the goddess of love, and more.

We’ll then visit the Archaeological Museum of Corinth and the remains of an ancient theater built in 170 BC and the podium of Saint Paul the Apostle.. It is said he visited and preached for approximately 18 months and wrote two Epistles to Corinthians and received many mentions in the New Testament.

A large part of the ancient Olympics, the Stadium at Nemea sits on the ancient site of Nemea in the modern-day region of Corinthia. Here, you’ll see where ancient Greek athletes participated only meters away from the Temple of Zeus in Namea.

Afterwards, we’ll head to the Archaeological Museum of Nemea to view collections from the Early Helladic era until the Early Christian period. Excavated at ancient Nemea, Kleones, Fliountas, and the Mycenaean cemetery of Aidonia, the most significant finds are the pieces of gold jewelry dating back to the 15th century BC.

Ready for wine tasting with experts, you’ll sample your way through the family owned Palivou Estate and the Ktima Bairaktaris winery in the Nemea wine region. Well-known for producing some of the most world’s most prestigious wines, the Nemea mountains and valleys have been famous for their native Agiorgitiko grape since the 5th century BC. Expect truly exceptional wines such as Vilgnier, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon and Greek varieties like Mavroudi, Roditis and Assyrtiko.
